**About the Role**
The Senior Advisor role sit in the Major Projects team in the Protection Directorate of the National Public Health Service (NPHS).
We are seeking a strong **Senior Advisor** to join our team. In this pivotal role, you will be instrumental in shaping the business environment for our projects to succeed. Your work will significantly impact public health outcomes across New Zealand and help to ensure that our new systems enable equitable outcomes.
- A current in-depth understanding of operational Public Health and Notifiable Disease Management at a local, regional and national level within the NPHS
- Established critical networks across Health NZ including privacy, Pacific Directorate and Hauora Māori Tumatanui
- A background in high level technical writing, including papers, minutes, reports, aide memoires and policy
- Developed public health operational processes and procedures
- Experience handling privacy breeches within Health New Zealand
- The ability to adeptly build and maintain relationships with complex stakeholder groups, managing their expectations, and keeping them informed

The NPHS within Health New Zealand - Te Whatu Ora, work towards Pae Ora (healthy futures) for all by engaging with the wider determinants that impact people's health, focusing on oranga/wellbeing, prevention, protection, and population-level intervention. We are connected across boundaries to deliver public health services that are nationally planned, regionally delivered and locally tailored.

**You will have**:
**Essential**:
- A relevant tertiary qualification, and a minimum of four years' experience or, a minimum of seven years' appropriate equivalent experience.
- Experience, knowledge and skills in relation to working with Māori and Pacific peoples/communities/stakeholders.
- Experience in implementing and evaluating Te Tiriti o Waitangi into work
- Proven relationship management and influencing skills
- Experience, in the design and managed a project of work and resources
- Programme management and administration skills, effectively coordinating multiple activities and ability to plan and monitor outcome achievement.
- Professionalism, including effective inter-personal communication, teamwork, accountability, self-management, time and risk management,
- Strong analytical skills combined with an ability to quickly assimilate new information, and to write and talk about complex issues clearly and concisely with a range of audiences.
- Developing knowledge and skills to deal effectively with complex and politically sensitive situations or topics.
**Desired**:
- A post graduate qualification in Public Health or associated discipline
- Experience in collecting/using insights, evaluation and data to measure progress against planning outcomes
