**About the partnership**

The centralAlliance is a collaborative agreement between Te Whatu Ora, Whanganui, and MidCentral District Hospitals to maximise their resources and knowledge. The Foundation Agreement was formalised in August 2009.

Te Whatu Ora, MidCentral Hospital includes the Palmerston North Public Hospital precinct and Horowhenua Health Centre, with a combined 350 in-patient beds. Te Whatu Ora, Whanganui Hospital with 172 in-patient Beds.

The centralAlliance project partners are two of 20 Te Whatu Ora Health New Zealand district hospitals across New Zealand established nationally on January 1, 2001, under the NZ Public Health and Disability Act 2000 (NZPHD).

This is a full-time permanent shift based role with work hours set in a shift roster shared with two other onsite Shift Engineers.

**About the Role**
An exciting full time, permanent opportunity ( minimum 40 hours a week) now exists for a Shift Engineer to join our collaborative and supportive team based in Palmerston North. You will be reporting to the Site Engineering Supervisor, you will be responsible for providing quality driven and coordinated hands-on Engineering Services which achieve an optimum standard, that enhances the positive image of Te Whatu Ora-Mid Central, minimises disruption to hospital functions and provides a safe clinical and socially acceptable environment for Users.

**Responsibilities**:

- Support to the regional approach to deliver a standardised service delivery and systems across the hospital facility.
- Delivering the Engineering Services in a way that meets the quality requirements, values, and overall strategic direction of Te Whatu Ora, and are maintained in accordance with Best Operational Practices.
- Ensure machinery, equipment and utilities are functioning properly as well as providing additional support at offsite locations to satisfy client requirements.
- Analysis of breakdowns, root cause analysis.
- Attending Toolbox meetings to ensure a common approach across all aspects of service delivery.
- Make independent critical and non-critical decisions to assess risk at multiple levels with little consultation with upper management.

**About You**
You have a trade qualification as a Marine or Mechanical Engineer. You have sound demonstrable experience in a building services/facilities management environment with as well as relevant experience in BMS systems with good understanding of steam services is essential. You have a proven track record of maintaining leading brand BMS systems and associated equipment.

In addition, you have experience in Boiler operation and maintenance, HVAC plant, power generation plant, medical gasses, Chillers, RO plant, lifting equipment and hospital relevant systems/plant. Working at heights, confined space entry requirements

Your attitude, flexibility, and willingness to help are key to your success in this role. Other requirements:
You will need to have good communication skills, and a desire to go the extra mile. This is a hands-on role.
