**THE OPPORTUNITY**
We have the exciting opportunity to support our Te Whatu Ora Health NZ Palmerston North Hospital contract (previously Whanganui and MidCentral DHB) in a diverse engineering role.
We will be looking for a standard maintenance engineer to work on the workshop floor while simultaneously learning the role of a shift maintenance in order to cover their duties when on leave.

**WHATS IN IT FOR ME?**
This role will provide great variety as well as challenge in that you will be carrying out the maintenance role, while also giving training and exposure to the shift engineer role. Depending on your interests and performance, there is the potential to become a permanent shift engineer.

**ABOUT THE ROLE**
**Maintenance engineer**

When performing as a maintenance engineer you will work a standard 40 hours per week at the workshop on the Hospital grounds. You will be responsible for checking, repairing, and servicing, and maintaining hospital equipment.

**Shift engineer**

When covering Shift engineer responsibilities, you have the potential to work the day shift of 7am-7pm, and/or the night shift which is 3pm-12am, then on call until 7am. You will be the first point of contact for any equipment issues and will be based around the hospital site rather than in the workshop.

**ABOUT YOU**
We are looking for someone who has a Maintenance Engineering qualification - no engineering degree required Your excellent communication skills and ability to interact with different stakeholders effectively will ensure great relationships with the public, hospital staff and contractors.
