Palmerston North Central, New Zealand CHEP, A Brambles Company Full time

We have an outstanding opportunity to join our Palmerston North team as an Engineering Supervisor, working primarily on the day shift at our pallet repair and crate wash plants. This is a fantastic new challenge for an individual keen to lead the shift engineering maintenance and have end to end responsibility for site engineering projects.

This key leadership role is responsible for the delivery of engineering and technical services at the Palmerston North site, including sole-charge maintenance, first-response to plant stoppages, optimisation of equipment performance, and technical support across the Lower North Island.

You'll lead maintenance operations, respond to equipment stoppages, and manage repairs within budget and priority guidelines. Daily scheduling, execution, and documentation of work orders will be managed through our CMMS (MEX), ensuring high reliability and efficiency.

Reporting to the NZ Engineering Manager and working closely with the Service Centre Manager, you'll drive equipment performance improvements, lead capital projects, and support testing and commissioning activities to ensure smooth operational handover.

You'll also oversee the development of operating procedures, maintain engineering documentation, and ensure safety compliance for contractors and suppliers—promoting SLAM and BASFR principles using BEAKON software.

To be successful in this role, you will bring the following:

  • Ability to perform hands on maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of all plant pneumatics, robotic, hydraulics, and electric systems
  • Experience with relocation of plant equipment and supporting new installations
  • Sound technical ability and understanding of 24hr production and FMCG manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in partnering with and overseeing outsourced/external/contractual services, to ensure all safety and legislative requirements are adhered to
  • Excellent OHS&E exposure and demonstrated capability of operating in a high OHS&E environment
  • Experienced in the use of failsafe lock-out systems and electronic control systems- e.g., PLC logic
  • Design and documentation of maintenance and operational procedures
  • Planning and scheduling preventative maintenance work using Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)

This is a salaried position for 40 hours per week. However, you will need to be flexible in your approach to hours worked, as you will be supporting the afternoon and evening shift with breakdowns, as well as completing project work and out of hours maintenance outside of site operation hours, including weekends (approximately 2-3 times per month).

Interested? To apply please click the 'Apply Now' button below.  Please include a covering letter with your resume outlining how your skills, qualifications and experience address the above criteria. Applications may be reviewed as they are received, so don't delay, applications close on Monday 10 November 2025.

In order for your application to be considered, you will require full working rights in New Zealand. We are unable to offer sponsorship at this time.
