The Data & Products team provide a base of data and evidence on housing and urban development and make that evidence accessible for NZ, the housing system, and Te Tūāpapa Kura Kāinga (HUD). The team produce regular data and statistics products for internal and external customers and are responsible for collecting, managing and stewarding the data that HUD needs. The team also provides a critical service to teams across HUD, ensuring they have access to the data and information they need to make important policy decisions. Mō te tūnga | About the roles We are looking for data or statistical analysts who 'get' data and can work closely with the other Advisors in the team to:
- Produce regular data and Statistics such as the Government Housing Dashboard and MAIHI Ka Ora, Ka Mārama.
- Work with colleagues across Te Tūāpapa Kura Kāinga, Minister's offices and other government departments to help them find the data and evidence they need.
- Manage and curate consistent, high-quality data and products.
- Develop new tools and products to increase accessibility and understanding of data and evidence.
Ō wheako, ō pukenga | About you For this role, we are seeking people who are at home with data, can understand and communicate the limitations of data and analysis, and is able to understand sources and systems to use the right data to answer the question. You will be a self-starter, with the ability to plan, prioritise and cut through to the urgent and important. You will be comfortable working in an ambiguous environment, whilst being able to work with customers to understand their needs and deliver the right solution. Your experience so far has seen you work at pace to respond to urgent deadlines and achieve a good balance between time and quality. You will also have:
- No fear of asking questions or saying 'I don't understand'.
- A continuous improvement outlook, seeking out potential for improvements in our systems and processes.
- Attention to detail.
- An understanding of Te Tiriti and the knowhow to consider how it applies to your work.
- An understanding of the importance of good data visualisation to tell a story and enhance understanding and experience creating clear and engaging charts and tables.
Across the three roles we are looking for a good mix of the following skills:
- A working-skilled level of R programming for data manipulation and cleaning, including good practice in version control and coding standards.
- Data Visualisation -experience developing or maintaining reports and dashboards in Power BI and/or Tableau.
- Familiarity with SQL, understanding of database structures and queries.
- Experience in data requests, parliamentary questions, OIAs
The salary range for these roles is $70,051 - $85,617. Ngā painga | What we offer
