Principal Advisor Data Quality and Monitoring/ Kaitohutohu Mātāmua
The TEC - Te Amorangi Mātauranga Matua is a small Crown agency with a big job to do - ensuring New Zealanders have the skills and the knowledge they need to ensure lifelong success to build a great country. We lead the Government's relationship with the tertiary education sector in New Zealand and provide career services from education to employment.
Our Fund Specialists/ Ngā Mātanga Pūtea team ensures TEC's investments achieve the strategic intent set by the TEC Strategy. This involves the coordination and management of the annual funding and recovery cycles, including in-year adjustments, to enable continuous improvement. The Funds span research, degree-level training, vocational training, and foundational education.
We are seeking a Principal Advisor, Data Quality and Monitoring to join our team. You are likely to have experience in a public sector financial role. You will have a strong interest in developing financial systems and people processes to achieve the best possible value from public funds.

**He angitūtanga**: About the Role?
The Principal Adviser will support the Manager Fund Specialist in the product ownership of our data collection systems.
- Be a TEC authority on monitoring and data quality and respond to requests for advice from across the organisation.
- Be able to link policy and financial practice of the team to support data quality checks particularly around the Reform of Vocational Education changes.
- Provide a guidance on the connectivity of relevant systems or tools and the impacts changes may have on corresponding systems and processes.
- Lead major pieces of work/portfolios of work across the team and the organisation to deliver the team workplan.
- Support the Team Manager with all reporting requirements/requirements relating to the analysis and monitoring of data quality.
- Use evidence-based analysis to develop end-to-end strategic plans (operational strategies and implementation plans) and supporting information and advice.

- Proven experience in NZ public sector.
- Understanding of the characteristics of good data quality (Accuracy, Completeness, Reliability, Relevance, Timeliness, Validity, Consistency and Uniformity) and the Tertiary Education Sector.
- Knowledge of and proven experience working with relevant legislation, public sector requirements, codes, and guidelines.
- A relevant tertiary qualification, in finance, commerce, or social science.
- Strong ‘expert level' numeric, analytical, and statistical skills.
- Advanced excel and/or SQL skills.

The salary range for this position starts from $125,000k to $146,000 depending on demonstrable skills and experience.
