Overview

The Climate Change Commission is seeking a highly experienced people leader to join our Evidence and Advice Group. As the Team Manager - Built Environment and Energy Transition, you will lead a supportive, enthusiastic, and high-performing team of analysts.

About the Role

This role involves leading and developing a team of analysts with differing levels of experience and seniority to deliver high-quality and influential advice on emissions budgets, policies to reduce emissions, national risk assessments, monitoring emissions reduction and climate adaptation plans, and/or other reports.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and management oversight for the development and delivery of high-quality analysis and advice.
  • Build a culture of collaboration, inclusiveness, challenge, and debate in the team and within the Commission.
  • Shape the strategic view of the work program and bring intellectual leadership, new ideas, and knowledge to the table.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • A strong understanding of energy, infrastructure, the built environment, and/or transport policy.
  • Experience working in these areas, including managing people, resources, systems, and processes.
  • Excellent communication and analytical skills.
  • A relevant tertiary qualification and post-graduate or equivalent experience.
  • An understanding of government processes, systems, and tools.
  • Familiarity with Te Tiriti o Waitangi and the principles of Te Ao Māori.
