About the Role

Tangram is a company that provides training and development opportunities to individuals. We are currently seeking a Cultivation Specialist to join our team.

In this role, you will be working with prisoners at Auckland Prison to provide them with employment pathways and help them develop good working habits, experience, and skills sought after by industry employers. You will enable our people to achieve NZQA qualifications and provide a platform of good working habits to take forward to the future.

You will also support rehabilitation and reintegration practices, helping individuals to discover a new career path, talent, passion or simply build confidence in their ability to learn. As a Cultivation Specialist, your role is multi-layered, you will have custodial responsibilities, industry-based responsibilities (including health and safety) and training responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide prisoners with employment pathways and help them develop good working habits, experience, and skills
  • Enable our people to achieve NZQA qualifications
  • Support rehabilitation and reintegration practices
  • Develop effective relationships with both internal and external stakeholders

Requirements

  • A solid background in horticulture
  • Experience in training
  • Practical work experience, knowledge, and the ability to train people in Horticulture
  • A willingness to turn your hand to a wide range of tasks and to assist in all the various prison industries as required
  • The ability to motivate and harness the talents of people within a team environment
  • Experience working with Maori and Pasifika and their whanau and communities
