About NEMA

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) is responsible for providing national leadership to New Zealand's distributed emergency management system. Our primary focus is on enhancing the overall performance and capability of the emergency management system, encompassing all hazards, risks, and the 4 Rs of risk reduction, readiness, response, and recovery.

Role Overview

This role falls within the Business and Performance Unit/Te Wāhanga Whakahaere Umanga, which leads work on the Agency's strategic direction, accountability requirements, organisational planning, and performance. As part of the Strategic Enablement Group, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring our dynamic organisation stays headed in the right direction, with a clear sense of purpose and transparency around adding value.

Key Responsibilities
  • Experience with public sector accountability processes and reporting
  • Providing high-quality reports and dashboards
  • Persuading, influencing, building, and maintaining effective collaborative relationships
  • Analyzing, interpreting, simplifying, and communicating strategic information and complex themes
  • Communicating (verbal and written) strategic issues clearly and concisely

Additionally, this role requires:

  • Proactive attitude with attention to detail, strong initiative, and problem-solving skills
  • A relevant tertiary qualification or an equivalent body of knowledge and experience
  • BCI Membership and experience with Business Continuity Planning (desired)
