The ideal candidate will have a strong background in embedded software development, with a minimum of 4 years' experience working with C/C++ for ARM Cortex-M microcontrollers. Proficiency in communication protocols (UART, SPI, I2C, USB, Ethernet) and a solid understanding of architectural design and documentation are essential.

Key responsibilities include designing, developing, and verifying embedded software for complex testing equipment, collaborating on code reviews, writing and maintaining unit tests, and troubleshooting system and performance issues. The successful candidate will also provide technical estimates on project scope, time, and cost, and assist in evaluating technical specifications.

Essential skills and qualifications include:

  • Minimum 4 years' experience in embedded software development
  • Degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience
  • Expertise in bare-metal Embedded C/C++ development for ARM Cortex-M
  • Experience with Git version control and Python
  • Proficiency with communication protocols (UART, SPI, I2C, USB, Ethernet)

Desirable skills include electronics design and debugging experience, familiarity with CMake project management and the GCC toolchain, and experience with Linux development and Dev Ops tools (e.g., Docker, CI, test automation).

This full-time role is based in Wellington, Somerset, with flexibility for hybrid working arrangements. The salary range is £50,000-£55,000 per year, with benefits including 25 days holiday + UK bank holidays, matched pension scheme up to 8%, technology voucher scheme, and enhanced maternity/paternity pay, sick pay, and death-in-service coverage.
