About the Role:

We are seeking a seasoned expert to join our Organisational, Resilience and Safety Team as a Principal Adviser Custodial Practice. This role will play a critical part in improving custodial systems and practice across Aotearoa.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leverage your expertise to develop and provide high-quality advice and support to operational and practice leadership teams, ensuring that practice development and application of practice in the field is effective, consistent, and continuously improving.
  • Develop and maintain close relationships with operational leaders, practice leaders, and practitioners to gather feedback and insights for service improvement.
  • Model professional and collaborative work practices with other technical experts and practitioners to ensure seamless sharing of practice developments and issues, promoting an offender-focused approach.
  • Work closely with the Chief Custodial Officer to identify and address risks related to practice and offender management, ensuring effective risk management and documentation.

Requirements:

  • Proven track record of success in a custodial environment or similar role, preferably with experience in influencing and leading practice.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain rapport with others based on integrity and honesty, showcasing effective interpersonal skills.
  • Strong understanding of research into what works and engagement models for dealing effectively with people.
  • Ability to work effectively in peer and stakeholder relationships, with a proven capacity for collaboration.
  • Recent experience within the last 2 years in a custodial operating setting (desired).
  • Demonstrated relevant work experience and an undergraduate tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline, such as Criminology or Psychology (desired).

Salary: $137,525 (midpoint), $116,897 - $165,030 (full range). Appointment and remuneration will reflect relevant skills and experience.
