**About the Role**

We are seeking a seasoned leader to join our team of Building Inspectors and take on the role of Team Leader. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual with strong technical expertise in building inspections and a passion for leadership.

In this position, you will be responsible for managing and supporting the team to achieve our goals of fostering positive development within our district while ensuring compliance with the Building Act. You will work closely with our processing and compliance teams, as well as other stakeholders, to promote a collaborative and high-performing work environment.

The successful candidate will have a thorough understanding of the New Zealand building consent regulatory framework, along with knowledge of the local government environment and relevant legislation. They will also possess competency under the National BCA Competency Assessment system, ideally across a full range of building categories, and a recognised Regulation 18 qualification.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensuring building inspections are undertaken accurately and efficiently within timeframes.
  • Providing customer-friendly responses to inquiries and offering technical advice to both council staff and the public.
  • Leading your team to meet and exceed operational targets while maintaining high standards of service.
