Join Our Team, Waikato is seeking a passionate and service-focused leader to join and lead our high-performing team of Building Inspectors. In this role, you will manage and support the team to help achieve its goals of fostering positive development within our district while ensuring compliance with the Building Act.

About the Position

You will work closely with our processing and compliance teams, as well as other stakeholders, to promote a collaborative and high-performing work environment. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Ensuring building inspections are undertaken accurately and efficiently within timeframes.
  • Providing customer-friendly responses to inquiries and offering technical advice to both council staff and the public.
  • Leading your team to meet and exceed operational targets while maintaining high standards of service.
Requirements

To be considered for this position, you will need:

  • A strong understanding of the New Zealand building consent regulatory framework, including knowledge of the local government environment and relevant legislation.
  • Competency under the National BCA Competency Assessment system, ideally across a full range of building categories.
  • A recognised Regulation 18 qualification.
  • Proven leadership ability and a passion for leading teams and individuals to achieve their best.
