**About the Role**

As a Mental Health Care Assistant with Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora - Southern, you will be responsible for supporting our nurses and other members of the healthcare team. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Patient movement
  • Patient cares, as required
  • Stock reconciliation
  • Ward maintenance

About the Team/Service/Location

We are part of the Intellectual Disability Service (IDS), based at Wakari Hospital in Dunedin. Our IDS comprises three parts: Ward 10a – a 12-bed inpatient service, Helensburgh Cottage – a 4-bed inpatient rehabilitation unit, and the Community Liaison Team.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will need to be motivated, flexible, and have a level of maturity about you. Experience working with people in a caring capacity is essential, whether that experience is gained from within a professional environment or from caring for children or family members.
