ALH are proud to have partnered with WasteCo on the search for a Regional Manager to take charge of the operations across the Otago/Southland region , managing key contracts and leading a dedicated team to success.

About the Role:

As the Regional Manager, you will oversee operations across 13-14 sites in Dunedin, Balclutha, Invercargill , and Cromwell , with direct responsibility for managing 5 direct reports and an 80-strong workforce . You will be the key liaison with one of WasteCo’s largest clients, local councils, ensuring operational excellence and continued growth within the region. Your role will be pivotal in driving strategic initiatives, ensuring compliance, and maintaining financial oversight.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Lead and Manage Operations: Oversee 13-14 sites and ensure the delivery of high-quality services across all locations.
  2. Client Relations: Maintain and grow key relationships with local councils, managing contracts and ensuring customer satisfaction.
  3. Business Development: Drive commercial growth in the region, identifying new opportunities and developing business cases to expand services.
  4. Financial and Board Reporting: Manage financial performance, prepare reports, and as required present to the Board.
  5. Health and Safety Leadership: Ensure compliance with Health and Safety standards across all sites.
  6. Strategic Planning: Develop and execute business strategies to achieve long-term success.
  7. Team Leadership: Manage a dedicated team, motivating staff at all levels to achieve operational goals and maintain high morale.
What We’re Looking For:
  1. Industry Experience: Strong background in Transport, Industrial, or contract management or Waste Management sectors.
  2. Government Procurement Knowledge: Experience working with local government procurement processes, specifically managing council contracts.
  3. Commercial Acumen: A deep understanding of business development, commercial strategies, and financial management.
  4. Board-Level Experience: Ability to confidently present and report to the Board as required.
  5. Health and Safety Awareness: A solid understanding of Health and Safety requirements and a commitment to maintaining a safe working environment.
  6. Strategic Vision: Ability to think strategically and write compelling business cases for future growth initiatives.
  7. Leadership Skills: Proven ability to work across all levels of staff, from on-the-ground employees to senior management and the Board.
  8. Established Network: A strong business network within the transport, industrial, or waste sectors.
