**Job Description** Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity**
We are seeking a Research Fellow to join the School of Chemical Sciences, in the Faculty of Science, to Research and provide technical support on the Marsden Funded project “The development of effective, easily separable liquid catalysts”.
Key responsibilities will be:
- Contributing to the supervision of PhD and Masters projects.
- Undertake research independently and as a collaborative member of the research team.
- Conduct high-level publishable research in support of the objectives of the Marsden Project.
- Publish papers and other scholarly works of high impact to the profession and society in the appropriate academic literature.
- Assist with the supervision of the research students within the Marsden project.
- Carry out administrative responsibilities appropriate to the position.
- Take a proactive role in reviewing the written work, posters and presentations of students, to improve the quality of team outputs.
This is a **fulltime **(40 hours per week), **fixed term** (18 months) opportunity with the possibility of extension.
Remuneration: RF1 $94,981 per annum.

To be successful in this role, you must have:
- PhD in Chemistry or a related discipline.
- Prior experience in physical organic chemistry and/or organic chemistry methodology.
- Proven ability to work with research collaborators.
- Demonstrated track record in publishing research outputs in quality peer reviewed journals.
- A passion for supervision of postgraduate students and demonstrated ability to communicate clearly with students.
- Excellent attention to detail.
Experience in microfluidics, the use of alternative solvents such as ionic liquids or deep eutectic solvents, or the study of chemical kinetics would be desirable.
