**Job Description** Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity**

We are looking for a Research Fellow to join our team. The successful applicant will contribute to the development of data-driven mathematical/computational models within the ABI Pregnancy Modelling Group. This includes modelling of large complex vascular networks that branch to the exchange surface of the placenta, deriving models of the vasculature from medical and research imaging, and modelling vascular compliance and exchange function. This computational modelling will build upon a decade of prior research from this group, and there will be opportunities to contribute to experimental design and validation of computational models. You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team based on collaboration between the Auckland Bioengineering Institute and the Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences.

Within this team, you will develop your leadership and mentoring capabilities to gain supervision and career development experience where possible.

You will also:

- Be responsible for the interpretation of experimental data and contribution to experimental design in order to quantitatively inform computational/mathematical models.
- Development of computational/mathematical models of the vascular system and exchange function of the placenta and fetus.
- Work with the PI to support the research team and assist other members of the research team when required.

This is a full-time, 40 hours per week role on a two-year fixed-term contract. The salary range for this role is $92,407- $98,062 per annum, depending on experience and qualifications.

- A PhD in a quantitative discipline (Engineering, Physics, Mathematics).
- Track record in publishing research. Independent development of research projects. Experience in the development of computational models.
- Proficiency in academic writing. Effective communication skills.
