**Job Description**:
**Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity**
Ko te whare Pūtaiao | The Faculty of Science is looking for a** **technician to fill a permanent, full-time (37.5 hours per week) role within the School of Chemical Sciences, primarily tasked with supporting the activities of several of our research laboratories, and the Chemistry Stores.***

You will be supporting the infrastructure, equipment and activities of several Principal Investigators and their research groups engaged in mainly organic chemistry and providing back-up for the Chemistry Stores function.

Key components of the role will be procurement and management of chemical and hazardous materials for research purposes and oversight of chemical inventories, as well as hands-on technical work with a wide range of laboratory equipment.

This role offers variety and the opportunity to advance your skills through exposure to new challenges and research projects while working closely with our postgraduate students, academic researchers, and the School of Chemical Sciences technical team.

This is a fulltime (37.5 hour per week), permanent opportunity
Remuneration: $60,000 - $65,000 per annum dependent on experience

**Mō tō mātou rōpū | About the team**
The Faculty of Science’s Technical Services Team comprises over 100 technical staff providing specialist support to the Faculty’s academic staff and students across 9 of the 10 Departments. They contribute technical knowledge and expertise to research and teaching activities while ensuring the ongoing operation and compliance of a vast range of laboratories, workshops, teaching facilities, research equipment, vehicles and boats.

**Important Skills | Nga Pūkenga Motuhake**
- Hands-on technical skills developed over several years working with a wide range of chemistry laboratory equipment and processes.
- Well-rounded experience and knowledge gained from working in chemistry laboratories with exposure to research.
- An understanding of chemical procurement and inventory management processes.
- Great organizational and time management skills and an ability to allocate resources to multiple stakeholders in an equitable fashion.
- Confidence to train groups and individuals to enable full utilisation of the facilities and equipment found in the laboratories.
