The Practice Lead, Project Management reports to the Manager, Project Capability and is the leader responsible for our Project Management capability within the EPMO. This includes ensuring our Project Managers are coached, led, guided and supported to successfully deliver projects which align with our organisation's strategic outcomes.
The Project Management Practice is at the heart of our delivery. As such, it needs and deserves a leader who has extensive experience delivering projects, as well as the leadership ability to attract, retain and develop a team of project delivery high performers.

Mō te tūnga | About the role
The Practice Lead, Project Management is a demanding role. Leading a team of independent thinkers, you will be required to ensure they come together as a mutually supportive team, while also empowering them to deliver within their day-to-day project and programme structures.
This role is heavily focused on cultivating a culture of high performance, building a community of skilled project professionals that lifts our capabilities and responding to the needs and strategic drivers of the organisation.

Ngā pūmanawatanga ōu | What you will bring

**Key requirements of the role include**:

- Lead their people in working collaboratively across Oranga Tamariki.
- Develop and maintain up-to-date view of project management skills and capability across the practice, aligning with the requirements of the portfolio and proactively identifying and addressing capability or skill gaps.
- Onboarding of new project management kaimahi to ensure awareness and understanding of project and practice requirements.
- Provide resource management to the portfolio for the centralised pool of Intermediate and Senior Project Managers, including allocation and utilisation.
- Work with the project delivery community to define resourcing and skill requirements and provide assistance matching resource needs with internal or external capability.
- Ensure our project management kaimahi have the appropriate skills, knowledge and experience to deliver the required work including providing coaching, mentoring, professional development opportunities and performance management.
- Assist in the review of project management artefacts to provide first level quality assurance.
- Understanding and appreciation of cross-cultural practices in particular; knowledge of tikanga Māori, and Pacific peoples' culture

Oranga Tamariki offer an impartial remuneration package, that offers progression annually for experience through tenure. Annual remuneration for this position starts between $142,728 and $177,410 dependent on experience.
