**Why you'll love working with Tower**
At Tower, we live and breathe our values - they are at the heart of every interaction. Our people come first, we pride ourselves on creating a diverse and inclusive space that allows our people to thrive. Encouraging everyone to bring their whole selves to work, we aim to represent the diverse communities we work in and with.
We also have a plan to lead our industry forward into a more customer-centric future with innovation and disruptive thinking, as a unique Kiwi and Pacific insurance provider operating for over 150 years, with roots all the way back to Dunedin.
**What will you be doing?**
As the Engineering Practice Lead, you'll play a key role in shaping our delivery practice and contributing to our IT strategy. Join Tower's growth as a challenger brand with a strong focus on Digital and Data, and champion our community of engineers within an agile organization. Reporting to the Head of Platform Delivery, you will oversee our Engineering community of Practice. You'll work closely with product managers and stakeholders to align engineering efforts with business goals, build strong relationships, and promote the value of the engineering practice. You'll manage resource demand, capacity planning, and strategy, and contribute to our evolving IT strategy. You'll foster professional development by identifying training needs and facilitating career growth, focusing on engagement and coaching to help the team thrive. You'll ensure consistency in tools, practices, and methodologies, supported by Lead Engineers and Capability Leads. You'll embed quality by design and security standards in development practices, continuously improve team efficiency, and lead by example with technical expertise and problem-solving skills
**What you'll need**
You will be a confident communicator with exceptional stakeholder management skills. You will provide confidence to stakeholders by ensuring people are on the journey with you rather than a surprise and delight end result. You will be inherently curious and considered and this will be reflected in your decision-making and ability to prioritise based on customer and business needs. You will be an entrepreneurial thinker who is able and confident to bring fresh thinking to the table.
**To be successful in this role, you will also be able to demonstrate the following**:
- At least 10 year's industry experience in Information Technology and prior leadership roles
- A brilliant and exceptional passion for leadership, communication, and partnerships
- Anticipate industry trends and technological advancements, guiding your team toward innovative solutions and long-term success.
- Make informed choices that align with business goals and project objectives.
- Effectively convey ideas, expectations, and project updates to team members and stakeholders.
- Encourage autonomy, foster collaboration, and empower team members to excel.
- While not necessarily hands-on, understanding technical concepts and challenges is crucial for effective leadership.
- Navigate changing environments, technologies, and project requirements with agility.
- Understand and manage emotions, build strong relationships, and motivate your team.
- Handle setbacks, learn from failures, and maintain a positive outlook
**What we'll bring to the table**
In addition to a competitive salary, we offer a range of perks and benefits to celebrate and look after our Tower employees.
Highlights Include:
- 16 weeks paid leave for the primary carer and four weeks paid leave for partners, for our Tower whānau in New Zealand and the Pacific

- Flexible workplace opportunities at our beautiful new Fanshawe St office packed with modern technologies, stand-up desks, open space and coffee machines in two large modern kitchens with cafe-inspired dining areas
- Discounts on Tower insurance products of up to 50%
