As a Regional Business Support Officer, you will work closely with the Business Support Manager, supporting and leading part of our Business Support Team as well as lead some regional work across the Northern South Island (NSI). The role provides support to six offices in the North South Island region, Nelson Whakatau, Motueka, Takaka, Wairau, Waitohi and Rotoiti Nelson Lakes. This role is based in the Regional Office in Nelson.

**The position will be focussed on**:

- Coordinate and support the delivery of effective Business Support services to internal work teams
- Supervise, coach, mentor and support part of the Business Support team
- Support and implement DOC system/technology changes across the NSI Region
- Co-ordinate and manage regional activities for the national property team
- Support financial process such as timesheets, payroll and SAP invoicing

This is an office-based role, working Monday to Friday with travel required on a regular basis to the District Offices.

If you have the following attributes, we are keen to hear from you:

- A qualification in business/office administration/facility coordination or considerable equivalent leadership experience in a similar area
- Solid communication skills and a drive to deliver an exceptional customer experience in every interaction
- Proven ability to manage confidential/sensitive material with discretion
- Great people interactions, collaborating and building lasting relationships
- A thorough knowledge in the Microsoft Office suite
- The ability to turn your hand to a multitude of tasks, experience in change management and implementing new systems and processes
- The ability to think critically, use initiative and independent judgement to deal with tasks that require immediate attention
- An understanding of the work of the Department and how it contributes to New Zealand's future sustainability
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Tikanga Māori and Te Ao Māori
- A current New Zealand Driver Licence

**Desirable**:

- Experience and knowledge of facilities and fleet management
- Financial administration experience and knowledge such as journals, accruals and end of year processes is desirable
- Knowledge of health and safety planning and reporting

Nelson Tasman is known for its famous sunshine hours, its beautiful reserves and national parks which offer excellent walking, tramping, mountain biking and kayaking. There are three national parks on offer, and we have it all, beaches, lakes, rivers.
There are two Regional Business Support roles in the Northern South Island. You will work closely with your colleagues both in this region and networking across the Department of Conservation.
