Mō tēnei tūranga - about the roleThe role of the Volunteer Support Officer (VSO) is to ensure that brigades are capable, sustainable, and not dependent assisting with legislative and organisational compliance. The primary focus is to support all volunteer stations within the district with,
- Operational and administrative support including monitoring operational readiness
- Fire risk management initiatives and recruitment activities
- Business planning
- Driving a “service culture” ethos
- Roll out of initiatives, projects, and equipment
- Coordinating repair and maintenance of equipment
- Ensuring health and safety is paramount

**Ko tāu nā i tēnei tūranga - What you'll bring to the role**: As this role supports our volunteer brigades, applicants will need to have flexibility and availability for some evening work as needed to accommodate training and support for our volunteers. If you're passionate about the role volunteer brigades play in their communities, then this role will provide you with a unique opportunity to utilise your knowledge and skills to support them.To be successful in this role, we expect you will:

- Have interpersonal and relationship-building skills
- Competence in the use of MS Office and other IT systems
- Effective communication skills both written and oral
- Have some knowledge or exposure to financial management; budgeting and/or business planning
- Hold a driver's license, this is essential - A heavy vehicle duty license is a bonus
- Experience with working alongside Volunteers

The salary range for this role is $95,149 - $105,721, dependent on skills and experience relevant to the role.Ko wai mātou - who are we?
