**The Opportunity**
We are looking for a motivated Senior Payroll Officer to join our National Payroll team. This role is perfect for someone looking for a rewarding opportunity in a supportive and fun team. The role can be based in either Auckland, Christchurch, Dunedin, Invercargill or Wellington. The role can be Hybrid & based in any of our New Zealand offices, or fully remote.
This role will give you a fantastic opportunity to develop strong technical skills, grow with our business, to learn from an exceptional and experienced team, as well as consistently add value to the business.
**What will your typical week look like?**
Reporting to our Senior Manager - Payroll Services, you would manage the expectations of relevant stakeholders around the completion of these tasks and develop the technical knowledge within the Payroll Team to ensure internal and client service standards are met.
- Provide backup and technical support to the Payroll Manager, including covering pays, processing taxation, superannuation and relevant pay run reports or reconciliations
- Providing technical payroll knowledge/around legislation and software packages and providing training and mentoring to team members
- Maintain and update the payroll team workflow schedules to be responsible for ensuring accurate and timely processing and reviewing of client payrolls for clients and Key Relationship Managers
- Assist with the end-to-end processing of payroll, including PAYE obligations and filing the returns
- Assist with payroll-related queries, internal and external reporting and engage with the wider business
- Assist with other projects and payroll-related work that arise from time to time

**Let’s talk about you**
You will an advanced payroll skillset and experience along with strong interpersonal skills, and a high level of accuracy and attention to detail. Curiosity and a keenness to learn is essential.
Other desirables include:
- Working knowledge of IRD and ACC requirements (preferable)
- Experience using various payroll systems
- Be highly customer-focused, ensuring the highest standards of service and confidentiality are provided to our external and internal clients at all times.
- Be a driven self-starter who understands the ‘must have’ steps in order to complete a pay run
- Computer literacy across a range of Microsoft products in particular Excel
