Hamilton, New Zealand Transpower Full time

**Bring your outstanding communication skills and appreciation of power generation assets and compliance/regulatory frameworks to help deliver a carbon zero Aotearoa.**

Our Power Systems Group in Operations provides multifaceted power system analysis and engineering, risk, and assurance management. This work supports Transpower in its role as System Operator (SO) to meet its principal performance obligations and successfully operate New Zealand's electricity market and power system for today and into the future.

**About the team**

The Engineering Assurance & Power System Engineering teams both play a key role in delivering this service by working with industry participants, such as generators and distributors, to understand how their assets perform against their obligations.

Our team works closely with the Electricity Authority to evolve the Electricity Industry Participants Code (the Code), and with Asset Owners to understand their assets capability and performance against the Code, investigate system events, and commission and test new or existing assets connected to the power system.

To have enough capability available to meet the increase in demand for our service we must look to automation and continuous improvement

**About you**

You'll have 2 - 5 years or more experience in power systems and regulatory environments, which may include working for a generator, distribution/ grid owner or Engineering Consultancy, working in engineering projects.

You may have started your career on the tools with hands on experience in commissioning and testing. This will have honed your ability to build highly effective relationships with customers and talk their language, enabling you to quickly improve the customer's understanding of their obligations stipulated in the Code.

Your CV, cover letter and experience to date will demonstrate:

- A bachelor's degree in Power or Electrical/ Electronic Engineering or equivalent experience.
- Commissioning and testing experience with industrial equipment, preferably with generation assets Project management experience.

- Demonstrated ability to analyse and interpret complex problems or processes, identify and understand requirements and develop alternatives.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to enable you to influence, convey and exchange information with clarity

Desirable, but not essential:
