**Our Opportunity**:
Are you a Control Systems Engineer, with a strong operational background? If so, this role could be for you We have a newly created role in the site-based engineering team working across Mercury's hydro power stations along the Waikato River for a Control System Engineer, a great opportunity to be part of the team that maintains, operates, manages and continuously improves our renewable energy geothermal generation assets.

The main purpose is to provide control systems and instrumentation engineering support to station teams. We know the right person will also be keen to understand the process behind it all. This will be achieved by:

- Understanding plant performance and deliver process control solutions to maintain optimum availability, reliability and stability.
- Undertake detailed troubleshooting to diagnose and improve plant control and instrumentation issues.
- Help deliver a healthy portfolio of projects (Opex/Capex) for the sites.
- Development and implementation of a long-term assets management plan which includes safety projects, enhancement opportunities and addressing asset degradation risks.

In delivering this role, the Control Systems Engineer will ensure that the site complies with relevant legislations, policies and standards. The Control System Engineer is a key link to the central Asset Engineering team.

Please note that this is one of three Site Engineer - Control System roles we are recruiting. Each role supports either our hydro or geothermal assets - please refer to our Career Page for full list of our vacancies. As this role supports our hydro stations along the Waikato river, there is flexibility to be based at any of our hydro stations between Hamilton and Taupo/Rotorua.

**We are looking for**:

- Experience in the below areas is preferable:

- Broad knowledge and practical field experience of process control systems, instrumentation and field devices
- Experience working in heavy industry, and experience in Hazardous/Explosive Areas and Functional Safety
- Power generation & Process Control experience would be beneficial.
- The specialised knowledge and skills are:

- Technical understanding of PLC, DCS, SCADA, RTU's, control network security.
- Good understanding of higher-level client/server environment and communication standards (TCP/IP, Modbus, Fieldbus)
- Project management.
