**The details**:We have a part time (0.7 FTE), fixed term to 31st October 2024, Medical Laboratory Technician Anatomical Pathology vacancy in the Histology/Cytology Department of the laboratory service.
- An exciting opportunity is available for a Medical Laboratory Technician to join our laboratory team working in Histology/Cytology department.
- This role sits within the Non-Degree Technical career framework on a step appropriate to registration status, skills and experience.

**Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity**

You will be working in our Histology/Cytology department to ensure a high standard of work in all aspects of Anatomical Pathology. This is a great opportunity for an enthusiastic Medical Laboratory Technician looking to progress their career with experience in a tertiary hospital laboratory setting.
- Key responsibilities of the role:

- Pre-analytical preparation of samples from the human body for laboratory investigation or requiring return to patient
- Processing of clinical samples including embedding, microtomy and slide staining
- Maintenance of laboratory equipment and quality assurance
- Laboratory administration to support pathologist reporting, filing, ensuring cases are ready for review or referral

- Our team of pathologists, scientists and technicians are located within Waikato Hospital and is supported by a modern, well equipped histology and cytology laboratory. We have access to a wide range of diagnostic stains and techniques. The Waikato Hospital Anatomical Pathology Laboratory processes over 18,000 surgical cases per year and over 2200 cytology cases per year.
