The Anatomical Pathology Laboratory at Waikato Hospital is seeking to recruit a full time, fixed term Medical Laboratory Technician to cover a period of parental leave for 8 months.

**About the role**:
You will be working in our Histology/Cytology department to ensure a high standard of work in all aspects of Anatomical Pathology. This is a great opportunity for an enthusiastic Medical Laboratory Technician looking to progress their career in a tertiary hospital laboratory setting.

Duties include preanalytical preparation and processing of clinical specimens, embedding, microtomy, slide staining, and equipment maintenance and laboratory administration.

Our team, located within Waikato Hospital are supported by modern, well equipped histology and cytology laboratories with an enthusiastic and skilled scientific workforce. We have access to a wide range of diagnostic stains and techniques. The Waikato Hospital Anatomical Pathology Laboratory processes over 18,000 surgical cases per year and over 2200 cytology cases per year.

Required skills & experience you will need to be consider for this role:

- Medical Laboratory experience
- Works well in a team environment and capable of working autonomously
- Adaptable and flexible approach
- Able to prioritise workload effectively
- Understanding of and commitment to quality systems and continuous improvement
- Previous knowledge of and experience in an Anatomical Pathology Laboratory will

be an advantage
