Our Urban Parks Ranger teams are a great bunch of people, passionate about what they do and they do it well. We operate in various locations throughout Christchurch City and make a huge impact on key sites that the residents of Christchurch and afar come to enjoy.

Working throughout multiple Christchurch City Council parks and greenspaces we are naturally diverse, open minded, culturally sensitive and respectful to all that visit and enjoy these spaces.

As an Urban Parks Ranger at the city council, you will learn skills that will give you the opportunity to progress your career in landscape construction, general maintenance, and horticulture. We have many career and education pathways to help you reach your goals.

**What's Involved-**
- Maintenance of parks and reserves assets
- Planting and mulching
- Machinery use and maintenance
- Customer interaction with visitors and Whānau
- Plant pest and animal pest control
- Communicate, coordinate and liaise with community
- Onsite monitoring of contractor performed maintenance activity
- Ensure hazards are managed and visitors are safe

If you are an enthusiastic outdoors person that enjoys variety in your job, is happy to muck in and help, you'll fit right in. You will have a love for parks and gardens with a specific focus on Landscape construction or similar. You will have a relevant qualification or a strong background in building industry trades, horticulture or environmental sciences.

**Requirements of the Role-**
- Full Driver's Licence
- Relevant trade qualification at level 4 e.g. Landscape Construction, or practical experience equivalent in a similar role
- Grow Safe and/or Traffic Management qualification desirable
- Current Workplace First Aid Certificate
- Experience in weed control and general landscaping
- Able to work in a team and independently
