**Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity**
We have an important role in supporting the Crown in its relationships with Māori under te Tiriti o Waitangi | the Treaty of Waitangi. The government is committed to improving services and outcomes for Māori and strengthening the Crown's relationships with Māori.
We are responsible for designing community-based systems of care, agreeing health and wellbeing plans, executing those plans, and monitoring outcomes which then feed into the design process.
The Strategic Engagement Manager, Living and Ageing Well is a senior communications and engagement lead working with the national Living and Ageing Well teams. They will operate in an autonomous way, supporting both teams with their strategic engagement needs including developing, leading, and implementing a strategic engagement approach for both teams. The role has an interface with the Minister's office as well as the People & Communications Teams, Office of the Chief Executive, and external stakeholders. This is a senior autonomous role, dealing with both strategic and operational engagement issues related to living and apeing well. The work is fast paced / high volume requiring someone with an ability to juggle multiple competing priorities and make critical decisions under pressure.

- Significant experience in strategic engagement to ensure delivery of work on time, and within budget.
- Strong political nous and broad experience and knowledge of the Machinery of Government.
- Broad experience of the health sector.
- Demonstrated experience in the development of high quality and timely stakeholder engagement strategies and initiatives across a large organisation.
- Experience and knowledge of the machinery of Government.
- Demonstrated experience at a leadership level for developing, maintaining, and influencing relationships and partnerships across sectors and organisations including with Māori and Pacific Peoples and groups.
- The ability to compellingly communicate complex information and ideas in both oral and written communication to a range of audiences including senior management, Board and Ministers.
