**About** **the Role** - The purpose of this job is to is to develop, review and project manage key Council and community strategies and plans ensuring they are fit-for-purpose and reflect Council's long-term priorities. This role also undertakes and supports consultation processes ensuring legislative requirements are met.

**Do you have what it takes? - **This is a busy role and if you want plenty of variety, this role has it from assisting the Head of Strategy and Governance with the development, delivery and implementation of Council's key strategic plans including the Long-Term Plan, Annual Plan and District Plan, developing new strategies, policies and plans as required and in accordance with appropriate legislation. It will also ensure strategies, policies and plans are reviewed as required by law, and are of a high standard and fit for purpose, conduct consultation in accordance with the Council's Significance and Engagement Policy and maintain consultation processes and documentation and prepare and present reports to the Senior Leadership Team, Council, Boards and Committees.

**About You** - You are a talented team player with a university degree in a relevant field such as public policy, has 5+ years' experience working in public policy, corporate strategy or in a related field, has a "can-do" attitude and is looking for a career transforming opportunity. You will have an in-depth knowledge of a broad range of legislation, particularly the Local Government Act, Resource Management Act, Reserves Act and other legislation governing councils.

In addition, you will have a strong understanding of local government procedures, knowledge of the principles of the Treaty of Waitangi, the ability to connect and engage with a wide variety of stakeholders building new relationships and your communication skills will be of a high calibre enabling you to engage with a range of key audiences. You will enjoy taking on new challenges and drawing on your technical expertise to manage complex situations to achieve a successful outcome.
