About the role
New Zealand Police is the lead agency responsible for reducing crime and enhancing community safety. We work in partnership with other public sector agencies, communities, businesses and individuals to achieve our vision of making New Zealand the safest country.
We are recruiting for one Intelligence Manager to join the Analytics and Intelligence Operations (AIO) group within the National Intelligence Centre (NIC) based at the Police National Headquarters. The purpose of the NIC is to deliver intelligence insight and foresight for NZ Police decision makers at the strategic, operational and tactical levels. To support the delivery of these outcomes, the AIO group covers a wide range of topics, with a focus on both strategic and operational intelligence.
Outputs are used to inform deployment of resources, understand the criminal environment and crime problems, facilitate evidence-based action and prevention, and support Police staff with planning and managing major events.
As a manager within the AIO group, you will be responsible for leading national Intelligence Support to Major Events (ISME) including intelligence requirements for national incident and response scenarios. This includes leading the team to produce intelligence products to support major event planning and risk awareness as well as having team members trained to directly support PNHQ Major Operation Centre (MOC) contingencies.
The Manager Intelligence Operations is also responsible for key partnerships both within NZP (Both PNHQ and Districts), the wider Central Government sector and across the intelligence community (nationally and globally) to share best practice and work collaboratively in response to major operations. In performing this role, the Manager Intelligence Opwerations will work collaboratively and seamlessly with other managers and teams across the orgainisation, and other partner, to provide an integrated approach to the delivery of responsive, high quality and innovative work.
Key Accountabilities
- Provide day to day leadership and direction of the team

- Provide technical guidance in Intelligence analysis tools/methodologies to a range of problems
- Engage positively with internal and external stakeholders, agencies, and community groups
- Champion diverse, different perspectives and the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi, identifying opportunities to reflect these in Intelligence products.
- Manage priorities, competing demands and implement strategies to mitigate service delivery risk and maximise effectiveness

Special Requirements
