Mō te tūnga | About the role
The National Intelligence Centre, New Zealand Police needs a supervisor for its Classified Registry. The Registry receives, assesses, stores, and disseminates highly classified material and manages all of the National Intelligence Information holdings. The Supervisor will bring their Information Management and business expertise and experience to work in partnership with the Intelligence function, wider business, and executive. You need to be passionate about information management and help us to be ready to adapt and adopt as technology changes.

**Your role will include**:

- Creating, capturing, and sharing information
- Extracting intelligence from information and getting it to the right people
- Digitalising information-intensive processes
- Implementing an information management strategy and solution

During major events you will play a critical role in organising and disseminating incoming information.
Reporting to the Manager Capability and Innovation - you will lead a small team of capable and experienced staff but will bring some of your expertise to help coach and mentor the team. You will also work closely with our Intelligence partners.

**Key Accountabilities**:

- Manage the NIC Registry Function
- Review SOP’s and align with NIC’s goals and objectives
- Manages the central intelligence repository for NZ Police
- Training Staff on Document Handling
- Monitors security clearances
- Provide effective leadership for Registry and RFI teams
- Establish and maintain liaison with internal and external stakeholders.
- Desirable to have an understanding of intelligence, national security and analysis.

Whilst we are looking for skills, knowledge, and experience relevant to the role, we also place high importance on your state of mind, the alignment of your values with ours, your ability to contribute to and build high performing teams, and the way that you lead yourself or others.
- To be successful in the role you will need a background in Information management.
- You may have had experience within a library or research function as well which would be helpful.
- Excellent computer skills are required as you will also be building a file management structure within our SharePoint system for Intelligence material that is not classified.
- Knowledge and understanding of Government classified information and systems security policies including certification and accreditation process.

This role is set at Team Leader/Manager level, this means your key purpose is “to lead the activities for Our Business and enable people to deliver them.”

To be eligible for this role, you must obtain and maintain a TOP SECRET national security clearance.
The minimum criteria for this level of national security clearance is:
NZ Citizen who has resided continuously in NZ for the last 10 years, or:

- A Permanent Resident who has resided continuously in NZ for the last 10 years, or
- A citizen of or has resided continuously in one or more of the following countries for the last 10 years: Australia, Canada, United Kingdom, or United States of America, and has a background that can be verified by the NZSIS.
