As the Sanctions Assurance Analyst, you will be a part of the Westpac New Zealand Limited (WNZL) Financial Crime, Global Risk team and be responsible for:
Reporting to the Manager Sanctions Assurance you will play a key role in enabling legitimate international trade and finance while ensuring Westpac complies with national and international sanctions legal, regulatory and policy obligations to protect the integrity and reputation of Westpac and our customers globally.

The key focus of this role is to support the implementation operation, and continuous improvement of a sustainable and robust sanctions control environment with a particular focus on internal vulnerabilities arising from Westpac frameworks, policies, and procedures.

As the Sanctions Assurance Analyst, your responsibilities include:

- Be alert for systemic issues, and consider the implication of potential control failures, ensuring appropriate record keeping as required.
- Day to day management of Sanctions controls, including control assessments (design and operational effectiveness)
- Providing support to enhance the effectiveness of existing controls, including reviewing findings from audit, testing, and assurance reviews (internal and external).
- Providing support to ensure controls remain appropriate and effective in the context of new business initiatives, regulatory or Westpac policy change, and in consideration of industry best practice.
- Maintenance of all reporting on sanctions risks, issues and incidents.

- Experience in risk assurance, and/or controls assurance,
- Experience with excel and compliance reporting tools
- Demonstrable skills in complex analysis, risk management and problem solving,
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills and the ability to articulate complex issues in simple language.
- Capable of handling multiple, simultaneous, and various ad-hoc requests, and able to ensure timely and effectively delivery in a deadline-focused environment.
- Strong focus on accuracy and attention to detail.
