We are seeking a Development Manager to partner with our Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences (FMHS) and connect our vital work to our individual donors, corporate sponsors, and charitable partners. We regularly attract six and seven figure gifts and play a major role in advancing medical research in New Zealand.

The position's main purpose is to raise philanthropic funds for FMHS through the effective development and implementation of a coordinated and integrated fundraising development plan.

**Some key responsibilities include**:

- ** Fundraising**:

- Identify, qualify, cultivate, solicit, and steward individual prospects and corporate partnerships capable of giving significant gifts.
- ** Internal Relationship Management** - Demonstrate a high level of interpersonal skills through relationship management, advocacy and negotiation. You will work closely in partnership with our Dean, senior leaders and the ARD team to deliver a coordinated approach.
- ** External Relationship Management -** Ensure major donors, both individuals, corporates and partners, are recipients of a highly effective programme of acknowledgement, recognition, reporting and engagement. Holding responsibility for prospect management for the Faculty, you will personally manage a portfolio of gift prospects through their cycle of development, ensuring each prospect has a well-maintained engagement plan.
- ** Strategy, Planning & Decision Making** - Contribute to the development of the strategic and annual operational plans for the development function in line with the directors' and alumni relations and development office directives.

You will play a crucial role in funding Faculty’s schools of Medical Sciences, Medicine, Nursing, Optometry and Vision Science, Pharmacy and Population Health Your support will contribute to advancing these fields and the fostering of lasting partnerships with global businesses, charitable partners, and generous alumni.

You will have the support of the wider ARD office whilst you use your fundraising and sales experience to partner with this multi-faceted faculty and work with its leaders to raise funds through our networks and corporate partners.

Your strategic mindset coupled with a comprehensive understanding of fundraising principles will be instrumental in developing and implementing successful fundraising campaigns. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills are essential for conveying our mission.

**We are seeking | E rapua ana mātou**
- Previous fundraising experience or experience in building relationships with corporate partners and high net worth individuals.
- Marketing, sales, and customer relations experience with demonstrable experience of hitting targets and meeting financial requirements.
- Excellent interpersonal relationship-building skills, happy to host events and engage with a varied group of stakeholders.
- Curiosity, to connect widely and seek to understand, and an openness to adapt your approach and offerings to match our donors’ interests.
- An understanding of the tertiary environment, in the form of a Bachelor’s degree or relevant tertiary qualification/work experience.
