We
are looking for someone incredible to join our whanau as the Director of Lived
Experience and Family/Whānau. This new role will work in partnership with Mental
Health leadership colleagues and the Pou Whirinaki, to support service delivery
which is consistent with and respectful of the Treaty of Waitangi.
This role will require you to work closely
with key internal and external stakeholders to strategically develop models of
engagement, participation and partnership with Lived Experience and Family-Whānau
that meet the needs of tāngata whaiora and their whānau.
This role will specifically see you working
closely and leading your team of advisory staff, to bring strong, effective
representation of the Lived Experience and Family-Whānau voice to all levels of SMHS. As Director, you
will take responsibility for this valued component of clinical governance.
As the Director of Lived Experience and Family-Whānau you will be responsible for;
- The leadership and business management of the Consumer
and Family-Whānau Services within Specialist Mental Health Services. We are
looking for someone who can lead the development of a vision, strategic plan
and priorities for the Consumer and Family-Whānau Services that optimises the
delivery of safe, compassionate and effective services that enable people with
serious or acute mental disorders in their recovery.
- Fiscal management of resources within budget.
- Overseeing the development and co-ordination of accountability
reports and activity data for the advisory services.
- Undertaking responsibilities for workforce, including; recruitment,
development and performance which ensures an effective advisory service.
- Building
a culture of excellence in professional conduct, personal responsibility and
accountability, leading by example. This will be achieved
in partnership with key stakeholders and
align with the Specialist Mental Health Services Core Purpose and Strategy (Nā ēnei tikanga ka ora hinengaro ai), the
recommendations of He Ara Oranga and other relevant local and national
strategic documents.
This role will also see you develop
and maintain strong relationships with the following key stakeholder groups:
- Iwi and Mana Whenua - to support equity of
outcomes through the provision of culturally appropriate briefs and brokerage
support
- Health Service Providers and support agencies including NGOs
- Consumers and whānau - accessing feedback from tāngata whaiora and
whānau

To be successful in this role you will have proven values-based

with your own personal lived experience of mental illness or experience as a
Family-Whānau member of someone with mental illness, bringing a breath of
experience you will have significant experience in a strategic senior
leadership position and leading change, your leadership skills will ensure you
are capable of managing and developing diverse professional teams in a
challenging, complex environment of political, media and public attention.
