- About the Role
The Lived
Experience and Family-Whānau Team at Hillmorton Hospital work in partnership
with Divisional and Service Leaders and all other SMHS staff to ensure that
family-whānau are recognised, respected and supported as partners in their
family-whānau member - s care.
In this role you
will be working with people who have experienced mental health distress and
addiction issues in Canterbury while using your own lived experience to
influence better outcomes.

Advisor will build relationships with Division and Service Leaders, along with
other SMHS staff to work collaboratively and develop strategies and models of
engagements while ensuring Family-Whānau are being recognised and respected.

This is primarily

**an advisory role & you will be responsible for**:

- Providing

a family/whānau perspective on service and policy development;
- Contribute
to the planning, implementation, evaluation and monitoring of services;
- Providing
and supporting the education of SMHS staff in best practice and policy
direction in relation to family/whānau inclusion.Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako - Skills and Experience
- Strong

communication skills with the ability to build and nurture relationships;
- The
ability to establish effective mechanisms for feedback;
- A
working understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and demonstrated commitment
to culturally responsive practice.
- Current
knowledge of mental health issues, relevant mental health organisations
and agencies in the community;
- Personal
experience of supporting Family-Whānau experiencing mental health issues
- Relevant
experience of working in the health system, relevant mental health study
or health related qualification is advantageous.Mō mātou | About Us
