**Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity**

The primary purpose of the role is to develop and execute category management strategies. In this role, you will be responsible for performing category management of one or more categories, and developing, implementing and executing the formal category and sourcing strategies and plans for surgical services category. You will contribute to procurement strategy across specific sub-categories, including prioritisation of initiatives with cross functional engagement across the Outsourced Clinical Services team and associated stakeholders.

A large proportion of this role will be liaising with a variety of internal and external stakeholders, you will be required to ensure that all category and sourcing strategies are agreed and supported by key stakeholders, while working closely with the Procurement Managers/Specialists to deliver the category and sourcing plans. You will also be responsible for developing and maintaining an appropriate programme for Supplier Relationship Management for the assigned categories/portfolio of suppliers.

You are an experienced category manager with a wealth of experience in leading the strategic planning for complex multi dimensionsal categories. You enjoy engaging across a wide varietry of industry stakeholders, developing functional working relationships focused on enabling improved deliverables and outcomes. You work collaboratively and cooperatively with a cross functional team approach. You will champion change and lead the thinking and development of detailed plans with a longer term focus and deliverables.

- Proven procurement experience - 5+ years
- Proven negotiation and contract management experience - 5+ years
- Extensive relevant experience with total cost of ownership / whole of life costing model and management of complex multi-stakeholder portfolios
- In depth knowledge of end to end procurement practice
- Experience with and in-depth knowledge of category management
- Highly developed commercial skills that enable significant contributions to be made to the wider business agenda
- Ability to work strategically whilst simultaneously maintain a focus on detail
- Advanced interpersonal communication skills, speaking confidently and conveying clear and compelling messages
- Team player with excellent communication and influencing skills
- Confidence with qualitative and quantitative data analysis
- Experience in the development of commercial documents that demonstrate a high level of commercial acumen and sound knowledge of commercial contracts
- A relevant tertiary qualification, or equivalent experience
- Competency with te ao Māori, tikanga, and te reo Māori or a commitment to starting your journey and taking ownership of your learning and growth
