New Zealand New Zealand Ministry of Justice Full time

**National System Practice Leads (X4)**

**Family Violence and Sexual Violence (FVSV), Te Puna Aonui**

**National Office, Wellington**

**Te Āhuatunga a Te Tūranga/About the Role**

This recruitment is a first step in establishing a team of tangata whenua and tauiwi family violence, sexual violence response leaders to influence policy and lead practice change across family violence, sexual violence and generalist workforces in both government and non-government organisations, and to provide leadership in building workforce and organisational capability in understanding and responding safely, effectively and consistently to family violence and sexual violence, and holding people who use violence accountable. The four positions make a team of people to work collectively and collaboratively to achieve this together.

The foundation of the National System Practice Lead role is built on 5 principles created during formulation of the family violence workforce and organisational capability frameworks, (the Family Violence Entry to Expert and Specialist Family Violence Organisational Standards frameworks).

This role will bring these principles to life through implementation and practice as demonstrated by the examples below:
**Kotahitanga
- Relationships and Inclusion**:
Amplify awareness and responsiveness to the needs of under-served communities, highlighting and addressing barriers to inclusion, prioritising equity, and driving change to support these needs and achieve equity. Actively champion the needs and amplify the voices of tamariki and young people experiencing family violence and sexual violence and lead advice/advocacy for change required to meet their family violence and sexual violence response needs. Advocate for a twin-track approach to family violence and sexual violence, making sure mainstream services and supports are inclusive of, and accessible to, marginalised and rural communities, and that services and supports cater to the specific contexts and needs of children and young people, older people, Pacific peoples, ethnic communities, disabled and Deaf people, and LGBTQIA+ people.

**Kaitiakitanga
- Protection and Accountability**:
Advance national level discussion and understanding around the issues facing small and rural communities, tangata whenua, children and young people, older people, Pacific peoples, ethnic communities, disabled and Deaf people, and LGBTQIA+ people, especially around safety issues, and be able to highlight and address barriers to inclusion for marginalised communities. Focus on workforce capability building regarding users of violence including organisational level interventions to hold them accountable, how others can hold them accountable and how the system can hold them accountable. Develop safety processes for delivery of training, including for small, marginalised and/or rural communities, tangata whenua, children and young people, older people, Pacific peoples, ethnic communities, disabled and Deaf people, and LGBTQIA+ people, and implement processes to keep people safe.

**Mahi Tahi
- Collaboration and Advocacy**:
Collaborate with existing partners and build new partnerships helping to influence change. Listen to the voices of tangata whenua, children and young people, older people, Pacific peoples, ethnic communities, disabled and Deaf people, and LGBTQIA+ people, and champion their knowledge. Partner with agencies to support implementation and embedding of the workforce capability frameworks and tools as needed.

**Ora - Wellbeing and Restoration**:
**Koi Mahi
- Innovation and Learning**:
Contribute to the family violence and sexual violence system research picture regarding workforce capability across Aotearoa New Zealand. Create and build upon feedback loops spanning ‘grass-roots' community, regional and national level involvements, helping to share their insights and learnings and influence change.
