**Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity**
The National Clinical Director for Renal Transplant will be crucial in the development and improvement of renal transplant services for the whole of New Zealand. There will be a strong focus on ensuring that the annual work programme embeds Te Tiriti o Waitangi to deliver a better and more equitable service for whānau Māori.
The role will provide clinical leadership and expert advice to national and regional working groups, colleagues and professional bodies to areas of service improvement to increase transplant volumes to meet the needs of our communities. There will be the opportunity to provide thought leadership and to function as a national advocate for organ donation.
With the establishment of the National Clinical Network for Renal, this role will be pivotal in ensuring that a robust, world leading transplant programme continues to support patients on their renal pathways. Working with the clinical network the post-holder will need to lead a team of professionals, providing strategic direction, influencing policy, driving quality and continuous improvement underpinned by sound research.
As well as support from the two renal co-leads and colleagues the postholder will also receive programme and administrative support from the National Clinical Networks team as well as a close working relationship with other enabling Te Whatu Ora teams including Service Improvement & Innovation, Data & Digital, Workforce, Communications and National Clinical Service Planning.
The National Clinical Director for transplant is a funded position up to 0.4 FTE. The initial term of the position is two years, and you may be based in any part of Aotearoa NZ.

**Mōu | About you**
A practicing clinician who is an approachable and collaborative leader with a broad understanding of health systems and professional and contextual knowledge to bring sector insights and understanding to the Renal Transplant Service.

You will be accountable for development and delivery of the national work programme and will:
- Be a practicing clinician who provides local &/or regional professional and clinical governance leadership for Renal Transplant Service.
- Be invested in your own cultural competency & enact Te Tiriti by holding health system to account, driving opportunities for service improvement that leads to equal health outcomes for Māori.
- Be an approachable, collaborative leader ensuring the people you work with feel heard and empowered.
- Use your broad understanding of health systems and your professional and contextual knowledge to bring sector insights and understanding to the Renal Transplant Service.
- Be highly connected to inter-professional teams and the wider sector and you recognise the skills and contribution of professionals at all parts of the patient pathway.
- Be committed to eliminating unwarranted variation and pursuing equity in health care across the motu and utilising your communication, negotiating and influencing skills to build consensus amongst stakeholders.
