**The Role**

We are looking for a Farm Manager to join us on a permanent basis. The farm is in an excellent location close to Christchurch where you will be assisting with leading a team and milking 950 cows. This will be on a rotating roster of 6 days on and 2 days off.

The main responsibilities of this role include..
- To lead the team to maximise the sustainable profitability of the farming operation by executing a farm management plan
- Controls costs and thinks in terms of profit, loss and added value
- Ensures company strategy is visible to staff, and team activity is focused on achieving company goals
- Implementing the agreed farm management plan developed by SML to achieve targeted milksolids production and profit targets
- Leading the management of herd health, and mating to achieve targeted results

Key to your success will be your ability to lead a team, have a proactive response to animal management and display a positive, ‘can do’ attitude.

**Skills and Experience**

To be considered for this role will require
- At least 5 years experience working on dairy farms
- At least 2 years’ experience of successfully managing people on a dairy farm (s)
- Good verbal and written communication skills required
- Displays a positive, ‘can do’ attitude
- Has affinity for animals

Agricultural degree or Primary ITO level 5 qualification is highly regarded in this role as is previous experience managing a team on a dairy farm.
