**The Role**

We are seeking a dedicated Environmental Policy and Planning Manager to lead our efforts in shaping and implementing our sustainable practices. This is a critical role in our business to ensure Synlait has all the resource consents in place to support our operations across the country. If you are passionate about driving change for environmental sustainability and have a knack for strategic planning then we want to hear from you

The main responsibilities of this role include..
- Take the lead on assessing and identifying any potential risks to the business of any new or amended national and regional environmental policies.
- Identify the requirements for any new consents or amendments to existing consents to support Synlait’s growth and sustainability strategy.
- Lead Synlait’s input in the development of national, regional and local environmental policy to ensure Synlait has an active involvement in these discussions.
- Coordinate policy discussion within Synlait, establish position, prepare submissions on resource management policy and present at hearings in support of submission.
- Ensure improvement initiatives are in place to reduce water, energy, waste, wastewater for all sites.
- Lead the preparation, lodg ement and obtaining of resource consents.

To be considered for this role will require
- Strong analytical abilities to assess environmental impacts, interpret data, and propose effective solutions for improving sustainability metrics within dairy operations.
- Strong ethical standards and leadership qualities to advocate for environmental responsibility and inspire teams to embrace sustainable practices.
- Proactive and solution-oriented mindset to identify challenges, propose innovative solutions, and drive continuous improvement.
- Ability to work collaboratively across different teams as well as maintaining critical external relationships. Clear and effective communication skills, both verbal and written to be able to engage with stakeholders at all levels.

These requirements highlight the skills, experiences, and personal qualities that are essential for success in the role. A tertiary education in environmental management or equivalent as is proven experience in an environmental management position.
