**He angitūtanga**: About the Role
This role is a tier 3, senior management position that is part of the Corporate & Finance Directorate leadership team, reporting directly to the Deputy Chief Executive Corporate & Finance /Chief Financial Officer (CFO.)
The Manager Financial & Business Performance, Kaiwhakahaere - Whakatutukinga Ahumoni me te Pakihi, leads a team responsible for delivering enterprise-wide financial planning, budgeting, performance monitoring and analysis that contributes to a successful and financially sustainable organisation. The team delivers high quality, medium to long term strategic financial plans that align with the TEC's objectives, priorities, five year and strategic plan to maximise the use of resources while remaining financially robust and sustainable.
- Financial Management: Ensure excellent financial management occurs on an ongoing basis with provision of leadership and advice to the CFO, finance business partners and senior management on medium to long term financial strategies and planning to maximise opportunities and minimise financial risk.
- Business Support: Ensure high quality and customer-focused business support services are provided across the TEC to managers and teams and carries overall responsibility for the management of the TEC property leases and facilities function.
- Management of people and performance: Sets expectations, including standards for excellence, actively managing the performance and development of staff ensuring performance and development plans are in place, staff receive coaching and feedback, and ensure accountability to required standards through active performance management and development.
- Directorate Leadership: Acts as a role model for staff, communicates and gains acceptance of the TEC's vision, goals and organisational values and gives effect to the Code of Conduct. This role is part of the e Corporate and Finance Directorate which is responsible for the development and delivery of financial and business support services to enable the organisation to operate effectively and efficiently. It provides assurance to the Board and Crown monitoring agencies regarding the effective governance, management of financial risk and integrity of the financial management system.

- Leadership: Proven experience in a leadership role and managing a strategic finance function in a corporate environment.
- Critical thinking and analysis skills: Comfortable with ambiguity, you explore problems to design and deliver effective and practical business solutions.
- Innovative and technical skills: Demonstrated ability to innovate using best practice financial reporting, taxation, and treasury management for business advantage.
- Public Finance and the Machinery of Govt. An in-depth understanding of public sector corporate finance processes, the workings of government appropriations and grants funding, operating procedures and decision making, budget cycles and reporting standards.
- Cultural awareness: You are committed to building your cultural competencies and deepening your understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
