Technical Accounting Lead

Our client is well established global leader in the manufacturing industry with a significant presence in New Zealand and as such a sizeable finance team.

They have a number of businesses in the group. With the size and scale of the group coupled with offshore reporting; they have established a role to focus on providing technical financial accounting advice and support to the wider finance team as well as assisting and co-ordinating external audit activity for the group.

Based in an easily accessible location with plenty of flexibility reporting to a high-calibre Financial Controller who will focus on developing the transition from a CA environment to a commercial role.

The core responsibilities of the role include:
Technical IFRS support including leases and revenue

Providing commercially minded solutions to problems based on your technical accounting knowledge

Drafting accounting policies reflecting changes in accounting standards

Leading the annual financial statement completion including coordinating with external auditors

Preparing statutory notes under IFRS

Updating finance function of sustainability/ESG developments under IFRS

Ensuring internal controls are in place including regular review using feedback from audits

You must be a Qualified Accountant and ideally have had your training in a Chartered Accounting firm - either within the Big 4 or similar. Recent experience of working in audit of financial advisory services would be ideal as a strong understanding of external audit procedures and statutory financial reporting.

A thorough knowledge of NZ IFRS and reporting under NZ legislation is essential, along with the ability to analyse complex accounting issues and provide commercial solutions.
