The role provides strategic and operational leadership across our General Paediatric Service, leading the medical, nursing, allied and non-clinical teams. The role provides the opportunity to shape the future of Starship and to link closely with our regional partners, our community and sub-specialty services.
The General Paediatric Service at Starship provides inpatient care for local, regional and national patient groups with a range of acute medical needs, including patients with multiple sub-speciality team input. The service also provides high volume outpatient care and a growing volume of virtual care.

Pehea | About You
To be successful in the role you will have demonstrated clinical and leadership skills, although this may be your first time in a Service Clinical Director role. you will play a key role in fostering a safe, happy and productive workforce and have a wide range of experience in a General Paediatric clinical setting.
Starship has aspirations to transform clinical outcomes, particularly for tamariki and rangitahi Māori and we are seeking a leader who wishes to play a significant part in this change, supporting and empowering our kaimahi through the process.
- A professional clinical qualification in a medicine, nursing or allied health
- Eligible for New Zealand registration and a current annual practising certificate
- A flexible and collaborative leadership style with experience in organisation and management of clinical teams.

Starship Hospital and Child Health is a dedicated paediatric healthcare service and major national teaching centre, providing whānau-centred care for tamariki and rangitahi. Starship provides a wide range of complex medical, surgical, cardiac and mental health services for children and young people throughout New Zealand and the South Pacific.
