Te Toka Tumai, Auckland is looking for an experienced clinical healthcare professional to provide clinical and service leadership to Urology service, part of Surgical Service Directorate.
This is an exciting opportunity for a Senior Medical Officer (SMO) with strong leadership skills and experience to support the delivery of high quality patient care as well as provide daily operational and leadership direction to the team.
This challenging and rewarding role requires a leader with an ability to deliver innovative and creative solutions and identify, create and maximise opportunities. You will be approachable, forward thinking and keen to implement changes to further enhance the services provided by the team. Strong relationship building and influencing skills will be key - the role requires a significant level of collaboration with other Service Clinical Directors across the Surgical Directorate. You will be supported by the Surgical Director and the Directorate Leadership Team including Business Manager, Nurse Director, Allied Health Director, General Manager, Finance and HR Managers.
This is a part time, permanent role, based at Auckland City Hospital.
The role holds single point accountability for direct reports which include Senior Medical Officers. Responsibilities include working with the leadership team to ensure clinical quality and safety, delivery of high quality clinical care within required timeframes, workforce development and planning, staff management and financial management of service budget. The position reports directly to the Director of Surgical Services.
- Ensure the clinical quality and safety of the service
- Provide leadership and senior management of the service workforce fostering excellence in practice standards and professional behaviour
- Maintain high standards of care by creating an environment in which excellence in clinical care can flourish
- Actively provide clinical leadership and effective management of the service’s performance and productivity.
- Work collaboratively with the wider organisation to ensure excellent and safe care for Urology patients.

**Nga Pūkenga Motuhake | Important Skills**
- Hold an Annual Practice Certificate and meet the requirements of the Health Practitioners Competence Assurance Act 2003 (HPCA).
- Be a highly experienced and respected clinician
- Demonstrate practiced leadership skills

- Have excellent communication skills and collaborative ability
