Hamilton, New Zealand Te Aka Whai Ora Full time

**Nau mai kia tau mai...**

Te Aka Whai Ora is a connection to the Māori ancestral world and a firm vision towards a healthy future for all.
- **_Te Aka_** speaks to the endeavour to seek ancestral knowledge.
- **_Whai Ora_** is to pursue health

In the pūrakau (ancient legend), when Tāwhaki ascended into heaven to attain the three baskets of knowledge, he also collected two mauri stones named ‘Hōkai nuku' and ‘Hōkai rangi'. These stones were seen as supporting the three baskets of knowledge, with one having the ability to look back into the past, while the other provided a vision into the future.

Te Aka Whai Ora and all its communities, whānau, and health providers are likened to Tāwhaki in seeking out ora or health and wellbeing. As we navigate through our initial years of work, together with our partner Te Whatu Ora - Health NZ we represent a new and exciting future for health where we can achieve better health outcomes and wellbeing for all our people - _whakahiko i te oranga whānau_

This is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to make the change that ensures we build on foundations set by those who have come before us, as we carry this mahi into the future.

We need people to join us on this growth journey as we create a 'future fit' team dedicated to ensuring we weave together our knowledge and skills in a combined effort to reach Te Pae Tawhiti, our Vision our Destination.

**Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity**

As a Hauora Māori Relationship Lead you will;
- work with providers to implement Te Aka Whai Ora's Commissioning for Hauora Māori Outcomes framework, ensuring new commissioning funds are deployed, and reports are captured.
- help to fulfil the Crown's obligations by leading, advocating for and embedding this health and wellbeing approach with their Te Whatu Ora counterparts, Iwi Māori Partnership Boards and service providers.
- focus on managing Hauora Māori partner (Iwi-Māori service provider) relationships
- partner with peers in Te Whatu Ora to implement national level strategies, plans and directives around commissioning, contract management, service delivery by providers and appropriate regional and locality-based customisation.
- support Hauora Māori partners to maintain a constant and visible emphasis on wellbeing, prevention and addressing the social determinants of health.

You will be a key stakeholder in localities to support Hauora Māori partners to successfully deliver integrated services to whānau within and across localities. Over time, you will be expected to evelop an in depth understanding of the Hauora Māori partners in their portfolio, and to have developed high trust relationships with those organisations. Supporting connection between providers and Iwi Māori Partnership Boards will be key to the success of localities.

Your ability to strengthen relationships, influence and connect with others is pivotal to being successful in this role.

**Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako | Skills and experience**

You will bring a kete of knowledge and experiences and hold the wisdom and mana associated with such a role. As an experienced relationship lead, you will understand the complexities of working in a medium to large health organisation, and legislative frameworks which effect the health sector.

You may have worked in iwi organisations, health providers, local government, or a public sector governance relationship role looking for a new challenge. Either way, we'd love to hear from you
