**Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity**

An exciting opportunity has arisen to be a part of Te Whatu Ora Waikato, Hospital & Community Maori Equity Directorate as a Clinical Programme Manager for the Whānau Hauora Integrated Response Initiative (WHIRI) Programme and Equity. This is a key leadership role within The Māori Health & Equity services where the Equity Programme Manager has a pivotal role working with hospital, & community providers and directorates and clinical and operational leaders to support and strengthen their capability and capacity to achieve Maori health equity in priority areas. This is through the provision of expert advice, contributing to governance groups, service planning and delivery to reduce disparities and improve equity to radically improve Māori wellbeing towards the achievement of Pae Ora. You will be involved in the development of new ways of working within the health care system, affecting those with long term conditions, models of care that address inequities and support Māori and Pacifika to access quality healthcare.

The Whānau Hauora Integrated Response Initiative (WHIRI), is a kaupapa Māori model of care that supports whanau to access health services. It involves a collaborative approach that includes hospital services, Iwi, Māori and Pacific providers, community groups and wider primary care. The WHIRI and equity programme of work embraces Mātauranga Māori in order to be effective for our Māori communities and fulfil our Te Tiriti obligations. The Clinical Equity team is a Kaupapa Māori service that supports the hospital and community with a commitment to delivering positive health outcomes for the community that we serve.

**Mōu | About you**

Required skills & experience you will need to be considered for this role:

- Bachelor qualification in Health, Business Management or other relevant discipline
- Project Management qualification (desirable)
- Understanding of Tikanga Māori, Te Ao Māori and Mātauranga Māori with the ability to engage appropriately in Māori settings
- A strong understanding of system drivers of health inequities
- A strong advocate for radical improvement of Māori and Pacific health equity
- Extensive experience in building and sustaining collaborative working relationships in a high pressure environment
- Highly developed written and oral communication and interpersonal skills, including the capacity to negotiate, resolve conflict and positively influence and motivate others.
- Significant experience and success in managing cross-disciplinary programmes of transformation
- Demonstrated experience in working with and supporting governance to drive successful programmes of work
