Disability Services Specialist

Are you passionate about our community and making a difference to peoples lives' Great opportunity to work for our not-for-profit client, whose main focus is to provide people with disabilities access to an array of services designed to make life easier and more meaningful.This organisation has been around since 2002 and works with more than 13,000 disabled people and their families across the wider Auckland region from Mercer to Wellsford.
We are currently looking for a Disability Services Specialist to lead and support the Outreach and Pathways teams, whose areas involve working with clients in hospitals and assessing eligibility for new clients.
**Responsibilities include**:
- Management of your own caseload and work allocation
- Providing support for the Manager as needed & being the representative for Funders, Providers, Clients & families
- First port-of-call for complaint resolutions, service delivery, training inefficiencies
- Collaborating with the wider teams across the organisation to ensure smooth flow of information and processes
- Coach, support and direct teams on the skills, knowledge and behaviours to provide an excellent service
**Ideally you will have**:
- Minimum 3 years work experience in health, allied health, education and/or disability sector
- Demonstrated expertise in Funding & Resource Management, Community Engagement, Needs Assessment, Clinical Support or Social Work.
- Bachelor in Social Sciences or similar
- Exceptional interpersonal skills with a particular ability to communicate with a range of different & diverse people and cultures
- Proven leadership experience and coordinating support & services for people with a range of physical, intellectual and sensory needs
- A background in mental health
- Working knowledge of the Treaty of Waitangi
