Mō te tūranga | About the Role
- Information Security Engineers working within the Cyber Security - Build and Protect Services Squad will complete risk assessments, identify network vulnerabilities, maintain, and support existing security tools, deploy new security technology, and configure systems to enhance existing security features. They are expected to respond to, and document, any security threats, resolve technical faults and allocate resources to deliver real solutions in a cost-effective way.

Information Security Engineers working within the Cyber Security - Build and Protect Services Squad will be proficient in:
- Understanding complex technical issues and managing them within a fast-paced business environment-
- Maintaining software and hardware in relation to security technology-
- Documenting security certifications-
- Identifying current and emerging technology issues including security trends, vulnerabilities, and threats-
- Deploying new security solutions to better protect the organisation-
- Conducting proactive research to analyse security weaknesses and recommend appropriate strategies-
- Liaising with vendors to implement security solutions- Nā tāu rourou | What will you bring?
- Technical Skills:
- Security related certifications (e.g. CISSP, network security certs)Experience of security incident and event management (SIEM) platforms, or PKI infrastructure or other security related toolsets-
- Experience operating in an enterprise environment following strict change control procedures, eg using Remedy or Service Now.-
- Demonstrable knowledge of change, incident, and problem management (ITIL.)-
- Previous exposure to Linux and/or Windows Operating Systems, coding languages, and/or Networks-
- Comfortable working with 3rd parties to solve complex multi-stakeholder issuesExperience supporting technical infrastructure in a regulated industry i.e. Financial Institutions, Government Agencies etc.- Non-Technical Competencies:
- Clearly communicate technical security related issues to stakeholders-
- Outstanding communication skills that go beyond “tech talk” - the ability to translate complex IT matters to those without an IT background-
- An enthusiasm for staying up to date with the very latest updates about security threats and solutions-
