As a Data Engineer in our Data & Insights unit, you will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining data platforms while implementing efficient processes for data ingestion, transformation, and access.

The primary purpose of the role is to lead the design and delivery of new features and services for the PSC&HTM data platform, aligning with the PSC&HTM Information Strategy, while establishing and enforcing standards and best practices for continuous enhancements to the data platform and developing robust data processes by employing various scripting languages and tools, ensuring data security and privacy in line with healthcare regulations.

In this role you will get the opportunity to drive innovation by researching and advocating for new tools and methods to enhance data ingestion, storage, and access.

**Mōu | About you**

You will be a Data Engineer who will play a critical role in designing, constructing, and maintaining our data platforms, all while implementing streamlined processes for data ingestion, transformation, and access. In this multifaceted role, you'll be entrusted with various responsibilities aimed at enhancing our data ecosystem, ensuring its alignment with the P&SC Information Strategy, and staying abreast of industry standards and best practices.

Your day to day responsilibities will encompass; leading the design and delivery of new and current features and services for our PSC&HTM data platform, in harmony with our strategic vision; championing the establishment and enforcement of standards and best practices for continuous data platform improvements; Fostering innovation by exploring and advocating for cutting-edge tools and methodologies to enhance data ingestion, storage, and accessibility; Crafting resilient data processes, leveraging an array of scripting languages and tools, with a strong emphasis on data security and compliance with healthcare regulations

You will bring proven experience in developing and maintaining data platform services, preferably within a cloud infrastructure; proficiency in defining, designing, and maintaining large-scale enterprise data platforms and solutions; extensive experience with one or more programming languages; a solid grasp of and experience in assessing non-functional aspects like reliability, availability, security, and performance;
Preferably you will have hands-on experience in delivering solutions encompassing databases (snowflake preferred), advanced SQL, and software development in languages such as Python or Powershell; proficiency in both relational and big data architectures, as well as data warehousing, data integration, data modeling (dbt preferred), and data optimization techniques; exposure to ETL/ELT and governance tools, including but not limited to Alation, Talend, Informatica, Matillion, FiveTran, IBM Datastage, Collibra, and others.

As a Data Engineer, your contributions will be pivotal in fortifying our data platform, promoting innovation, and ensuring data security and privacy in compliance with healthcare regulations.

- Proven experience developing and maintaining data platform services, ideally using cloud infrastructure.
- Experience in defining, designing and maintaining large-scale enterprise data platforms and solutions.
- Proven experience in operating at a senior technical level.
- Extensive experience in one or more programming languages.
- Competency with te ao Māori, tikanga, and te reo Māori or a commitment to starting your journey and taking ownership of your learning and growth.
